Halloween Fun
Costume Parade at Lowman Home
The little ones really
enjoyed spreading some Halloween cheer - and some decorated
pumpkins - as they paraded the halls for the residents of
the Lowman Home. This was such a rewarding experience for all involved, and
was a lot of fun, too!
Halloween

LMM Halloween Party is a Spook-tacular Time!

party, Sundai for decorations, Kerri for crafts, Renee
for site coordination and set-up, Millicent for food an clean up, &

Take on New York City
A group of Lake Murray Moms
took a little vacation from South Carolina and headed up to New York
City for a little rest,
relaxation, and lots of shopping! One exciting part of the trip
was a visit to the taping of the Regis & Kelly show. Not only do
the LMMs make a splash here, but Kelly Ripa took notice, too. She
proudly has become an honorary member of the group and has one of our
great tees to wear around the city. Check out the video link at
the right to see the LMMs mentioned on the show!

Ladies Walk For Life

Lake Murray Moms teamed up with Palmetto Health Foundation’s Steps
Against Breast Cancer Event, and participated in the First Ladies’ Walk
for Life. More than 11,000 walkers participated and more than
$400,000.00 was raised. Each of the LMM team members walked in honor of
a friend or relative affected by cancer. Honored were: Judy Jackson,
survivor, Pam Chick, recently diagnosed, in memory of Betty Griffin,
Edith Bigwarfe, two time survivor, Jackie Able, survivor, in memory of
Linda Carroll, Angie Grayson, survivor, Pricilla Hardee, survivor, in
memory of Betty Houser, Anne Draffin, survivor, Marie Messier, survivor,
in memory of Stephanie McMinn, Krista Ellis Bannister, survivor, Carol
Colclough, survivor, and in memory of Paulette McGowan. We hope
that this will be the first of many years our group can participate in
this most important event. Thanks to all our walkers who helped to
raise money for breast cancer awareness. A special
"congratulations" to Tara and Andrea/Alexa for raising the most money on
our team!

For a Parade!
LMMs in
the Chapin Labor Day Parade
It was a beautiful day to
celebrate our heroes at the Chapin Labor Day Parade! The kids
looked great in their masks and capes, and the moms were stylish in our
new LMM tees! Thanks for coming out. We had a lot of fun and it
was great seeing all our pink shirts & red capes being sported by
everyone. A BIG THANK YOU to our parade committee: Amy R (signage), Tara
& Sundai (hand print craft), Kerri (capes), Ashley E (mask decor
supervision), Millicent & Ritchie (Boat towing, cleanup, ice chest &
drink donations, boat registration & coordination), Scott/Kim Jones
(SUV), Beth, Renee, & Hope with helping hands.
Parade Day Prep
Getting
Ready for the Big Parade
The kids had a great time
getting ready to be super heroes for the Labor Day Parade - Just look at
those hero-sized grins! It all would not have been possible
without the help of the moms (and dads!) that decorated the float.
Thanks to our Lake Murray Mom heroes!

Community
Outreach
Thank
You For Supporting Our Troops
As we celebrate July 4th, a big
"thank you" goes out to those Lake Murray Moms who brought items to help
support the troops and Iraqi children.
We were
touched and amazed by the amount of donations we received. We also
received an email from Billy thanking us for being so generous. We made
many soldiers and Iraqi children very happy. We also want to thank a
few local businesses that helped us out with shipping costs. A Special
"Thanks" goes to Farm Boys Barbecue, The Vineyard, and Homes and Land
of Columbia.
Fun In The Sun
LMM Celebrates
Family Fun Day
The Lake
Murray Moms and their families had a awesome time at our first Family
fun Day. Firemen from Amicks Ferry Fire department brought their
truck for the kids to explore, and bounce houses and water topped off
the activities. A big thanks to the Carson's for hosting this
event at their house!
Tastes So Sweet!
Strawberry Picking
at Lever Farms
Mrs. Lever
had plenty of delicious strawberries for
our little ones to pick! What a beautiful day to be out with our
kids!

Young Chefs!
Kids
Conquer Cooking with LMM
What a great Mother's Day
treat! The Lake Murray Moms had an opportunity to cook a
great brunch with our children at the Young Chefs Academy.
Everyone had a great time - especially the kids! It was an amazing
bonding time, and hopefully the kids learned enough to teach dad...just
think of all those breakfasts in bed!
Some Moms Rock, We Run!
LMM Moms Win
Awards in "Run For Your Life"
Two Lake Murray Moms won
awards for their results in the Newberry County Memorial Hospital "Run
For Your Life" 5K race on April 14th. Happy Jackson placed 1st in
her female age category, and Charlotte Jordan placed third in hers (By
the way, Charlotte's baby is only 2 months old!).
Congratulations moms! We also had a Lake Murray Munchkin run in
the Junior Jog. Watch out - The moms might have a little
competition in the future!
Cooper River
Bridge Run
The
Lake Murray Moms had an awesome time in Charleston participating in the
30th annual Cooper River Bridge Run on March 31st! Some moms walked, some moms
ran, and some moms sprinted like their kids were chasing them with slimy
snakes! But every mom participating accomplished an amazing goal
completing a 10K race - and set an amazing example for her children to
follow. Way to go moms!
Look for details on next year's
trip, but mark your calendars now though - the race will be April 5th,
2008. |
